“I wanna have a good day today . . . ”
During these early winter days when we fondly recall the sunny happiness of summer and the festive action of fall, it’s easy to lose ourselves in the vast gray and white expanse stretching out ahead of us. Our beloved David Lynch has preemptively come to the rescue with a brilliant bit of electropop to fight off the mean reds. Or the blues. Or whatever color best describes your mood.
I love that even through all the processing, you can hear that it’s David’s voice at the heart of this song—his idiosyncratic and anachronistic drawl scattering all the troubles away and comforting us to no end.
A short, amusing video of David Lynch discussing his near brush with directing Revenge of the Jedi.
Interesting to note: he went on to direct Dune instead, taking the reigns over from the failed production that was to be directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky in collaboration with Salvador Dali, Orson Welles, Gloria Swanson, David Carradine and Mick Jagger, with art direction by Moebius and H.R. Giger and music by Pink Floyd. Can you imagine the amazing alternate reality out there where David Lynch directed Return of the Jedi and Jodorowsky, Dali, Giger and Pink Floyd made Dune? I think it would be slightly better than this reality . . .
A very interesting mini-doc on the making of the music for middle period David Lynch and the band Fox Bat Strategy. Features interviews with David Lynch himself as well as insight into his role as a part of the band behind the boards.

I was fairly excited by and pleased with David Lynch’s recent collaboration with Sparklehorse and Danger Mouse. But this new development has me all twitterpated: David Lynch, along with the session musicians from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, is releasing an album of rock music. If the first track released is any indication, it’s going to sound like the 50s americana noir pop with incredible atmosphere we should expect from David Lynch.
